| Inspired by Mission Oggy on Scoutadelic (episode 1 can be found to the left), we decided to challenge the Cubs this term in 4 skills/fun activities. We had great fun and the resulting video shows all their creativity and enthusiasm :-) |
We did have winners for each round, but no prizes: we do have a fabulous limited edition badge for their camp blankets though :-)

Learning, and improving some life skills (only a couple of slips with the vegetable peelers!). Everyone had a great time and loved their omelettes that they cooked with Chef Jean who kindly came in to share his expertise with us :-) Fruit & veg peeling Making an omelette: And the all important tidying up:
aSome more photos from our community service day on Sat 27th Oct; all the Cubs there earned their Home Help activity badge. They cooked 3 main meals between them for around 50 people, cleaned their outdoor playhouse, and outdoor eating area.
Finally managed to get photos and videos together from camp...You can see how much fun they had, and how covered in chocolate they all got :-) Another teamwork activity toward the teamwork challenge: make a protective structure for an egg so it can drop from a height and remain intact...3 out of 4 successful drops :-)
What a great way for our Cubs to get to know their fellow Cubs from 1st & 3rd KL. We even managed to mingle with some of our friends from Thailand as well as the 2 leaders from Chiang Mai and Bangkok came with their children, Jack (a Cub) and Arianne (a Beaver). We also have our District Commissioner, Jon Gill visiting with his wife, Lynn who is our Nights Away Assessor. Last, but not least, we had Jon Copner from Brussels who is Unit 99 (British Scouting Overseas) leader for the World Scout Jamboree so it was great for him to see Scouting in Malaysia in action. Having been a little disappointed by the advertised Jungle Walk, we were more than satisfied with the river float that followed. A good 1.5 hours just floating and walking along the river with not a care in the world (well we did do a head count occasionally to make sure we hadn't lost any :-P). The Cubs had an absolute blast, and you would never know some of them had never met each other before that day; they all just mucked in and got on very well. We had indoor ice breaker games, outdoor ice breaker games followed by the river float. Best team name goes to team 3: when asked what they were called, they all shouted 'we don't know' :-) There's a lot of photos to look through but I have tried to make sure each Cub appears more than once :-P Learning some new skills or refining ones from last term during the last Wednesday session of this term: sewing on badges, making cakes and peeling apples as well as taking part in some new activities on our mini District day camp. Getting up close and personal with a game of Mirror Mirror
This term has been pretty busy trying to fit everything into a short time! I am only just now getting chance to add the photos we have taken :-P . A tour through our Skills Challenge, Artist Activity and Global Issues Activity Plus badges... A selection of the messy stencil art used in the video Another Artist activity making models, as well as team-building exercise with the caterpillar skiing. Another fantastic trip to Biji-Biji this week to learn about energy use, how it affects the environment, and what we can do to help reduce the impact. Everyone worked hard to power the iPhone so we could hear the music: some made louder music than others :-) Well done to everyone who finished their Global Issues workbook which meant they had completed the work and received their badges for this term. Everyone else will get theirs next week when the booklets, and any other outstanding work, is returned to me. |
