Beaver Scouts (aged 6-8) generally meet in PH4 from 4pm - 5pm, Cub Scouts (aged 8-10.5) generally meet in PH1 from 3.45pm - 5.15pm and Scouts (aged 10.5-14) generally meet in the PH3 from 3.45pm - 5.15pm. Our group is open to all children who are welcome to join in the huge range of activities in our programme.
Successful Scouting is also reliant on parent involvement in our activities, whether it is helping at weekly meetings, on camp, in the background with admin. tasks, or on the Executive Committee. We have an Annual General Meeting every year to keep parents up-to-date on the activities of the Group.
This website is a means for potential new members to find out what we are about, to showcase our activities through photos and videos and to allow new members to apply for a space on our waiting list. For Garden International students please be advised that we are not part of the CCA programme per se: we are of British Scouting Overseas which is completely independent from the school, though we are very grateful for their continued support of 2nd KL Scout Group. As such the commitments and requirements for members, and parents, will be very different from the usual CCA programme.
Communication will be via our management tool: Online Scouting Manager and you will be sent a link to sign up once your child is offered a place. This will be used to advise you of the term programme and any events outside the usual Wednesday sessions.

Beavers
"'The best thing we did was swim in the rain. I wasn't even sure we were allowed to, but it was brilliant! I mean we were wet anyway, so I guess it didn't matter too much about the weather.'
Beavers are our youngest members, and generally meet for an hour per week. They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout Sleepover with their friends." www.scouts.org.uk
Scouts 'Scouting has given me a fantastic opportunity to do lots of activities and things that people who are not in Scouts don’t get to do. It’s about having fun with good friends.’
'Scouts aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and be creative. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips.

Cubs
"‘The best part of Scouting is definitely the camps. I love every activity we do apart from swimming. They told us the pool was 24 degrees centigrade. Minus 24 more like!’
For Cubs, excitement and adventure are key. Their programme offers a huge variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness, global and beliefs; whilst allowing them to be creative and get involved in their local communities. Cubs are introduced to exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences." www.scouts.org.uk
Explorers
'To anyone who hasn’t tried Scouting before, I’d say come on up and have a go! I think that most people don’t really know that Scouting is about activities, friendship and meeting people from other countries. I’ve been in the Movement since I was a Beaver and I still love it!'
With the support, direction and guidance of Unit leaders, Explorer Scouts are encouraged to lead themselves, design their own programme and work towards the top awards that Scouting offers. With exciting prospects like being a part of camps and expeditions both home and abroad; adventurous activities such as mountaineering, parascending and off shore sailing; Explorers offers fun and adventure for all. Explorers also have the opportunity to be a part of The Explorer Scout Young Leaders’ Scheme which develops their leadership skills and sense of responsibility, by helping to run meetings for younger sections.

We are affiliated to British Scouting Overseas and are covered by their insurance and guidelines in running all the activities with the children. All the Leaders and Assistant leaders undertake an on-going training programme to ensure the children are getting the best from their time with us.
